Trying to find for a realistic, yet still bold take on Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone? Look no further than a new Galaxy S6 concept design from the UK's 3G.
The designers have decked out the Galaxy S6 with both a metal design and a thin body that would make the iPhone 6 envious, not to mention some enticing specs.
3G imagines Sammy taking a step up with the GS6 by equipping it with a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display, Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU and a 20-megapixel camera with 4K video support, Android 5.0 Lollipop, a heart rate monitor and a fingerprint scanner.
Or in other words premium specs inside a premium design.
Following the report that Samsung is planning to completely redesign the upcoming flagship from scratch under "Project Zero," a new update has surfaced that details some interesting features for the smartphone.
The GS6's redesign will apparently be pretty radical for Samsung — even more so than the Galaxy Note Edge — including not one, but two displays on the device's edges.
"The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a 'dual-edged' screen which is curved on the right and left sides," said IHD Technology senior analyst Jerry Kang. "The dual edge is expected to be beneficial for Samsung Display, the main display supplier for the smartphone-maker, as larger displays bring more profit."
Kang added that the Note Edge was also supposed to offer the "dual-edged" screen, but that Sammy ditched the idea "at the last minute."
While the display could be an attractive feature for some consumers, as BGR points out, it's unclear if Samsung will be able to mass-produce these smartphones to meet demand - meaning there could be a version with the special display and another without it.
The "Project Zero" redesign will also incorporate some exciting specs changes to the next flagship compared vs. the Galaxy S5, according to SamMobile.
The website's anonymous sources informed them that the device will include a QHD display, a 16 or 20-megapixel camera and a 64-bit CPU. The device's rear camera will reportedly either be the same 16-megapixel shooter with OIS featured in the Galaxy Note 4 or a new 20-megapixel, with the front serving up a 5-megapixel shooter.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S6 is said to feature the 64-bit Exynos 7420 SoC that debuted last month, which includes four Cortex A57 cores and four Cortex A53 cores. The SoC is believed to pack the Korean tech giant's first in-house modem, the Exynos Modem 333, which also offers LTE connectivity. SamMobile adds that another model will also be offered that packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810.
Additional specs mentioned for the S6 include 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB internal storage options and a Broadcom BCM4773 chip that packs GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity all-in-one; reportedly helping save battery.
