After reports about an alleged Galaxy S6 doing the rounds, another Samsung device is making its presence felt. This time around, a phablet with with model number SM-G7200 has been spotted on GFXbench results, highly speculated to be the successor of Grand series, Grand 3.
If this piece of news is to be believed then the Grand 3 looks like it will be a significant upgrade over the Grand 2. Going by the data leaked, it is likely to feature a 5.5-inch display, which is larger than the 5.25-inch seen in the Grand 2. However, both devices will get the same 720p resolution.
The device will come powered by a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon clocked at 1.2GHz. It also gets Adreno 306 graphics and 1.5GB RAM. On the storage front, one can expect 16GB onboard storage with 12GB available to users. The camera seems to be its biggest upgrade. The Grand 3 will get a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, compared to the 8MP rear and 1.9MP front-facing found in its predecessor.
The device is expected to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat, there is no word on Lollipop upgrade. It should be noted that Samsung had launched the Grand 2 December last year. So, we can most likely expect it to be launched next month and hit store shelves by January 2015.
Specs-wise the Galaxy Grand 2 was positioned well, however, maybe its the price of somewhere between Rs 22,990 and Rs 24,990 that seemed to be a hindrance.
