Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has just announced that it will begin rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its Elife E3 smartphone. The device will benefit massively from the performance upgrades that the newer version of Android brings, but comes at a time when Google's latest Lollopop build has started rolling out.
Alongside the OS update, Gionee has also added support for nine Indian languages – Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marati, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. The company's bloat loading hasn't ended with the newest update for the Elife E3, and the device comes along with WeChat, UC Browser, Kingsoft Office, etc.
Unlike most Android devices however, users of the Elife E3 will find it much easier to visit a service center in order get their devices updated. The KitKat build rolling out isn't available OTA, and for users willing to do it at home it will be available from the Gionee site, though the installation process is a bit complicated.
The Gionee Elife E3 was launched last year and ran on Android 4.2 JellyBean OS. The new update will give the device a much needed performance and efficiency boost, while also introducing users to a host of new features that KitKat brings along.
